Cannons uncovered at Arch Cape have been moved and
will be available for public viewing at the Nehalem Bay State Park
from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 5.. The cannons are from the
1846 shipwreck of the USS Shark and have
been buried for more than 150 years. Check the
OPRD web site for
future viewing dates and times.
Rockaway Beach kicks off the day with a parade at 11
a.m., Fun Day at
the Beach with kids' activities, fireworks at dusk. Watch the
fireworks from the Fireworks Train that leaves Bay City at 7:30
p.m. and heads up the
tracks to Garibaldi at 8:15
p.m. and onto Rockaway Beach.
La De Da Parade
- Yachats festivities kick off with the parade at noon, pie and ice
cream at the commons, shrimp bbq at the Lion's Hall, fireworks over
the bay at dusk.

Fourth Celebrations
The
Monks of the Gaden Shartse Monastery
return
to Yachats to build a Mandala of Peace at the Green Salmon.
Additional events are being scheduled at different locations
including the Yachats Commons. The monks are touring the U.S. to
raise funds to equip a recently completed hospital that will serve
the Tibetan refugees in India. July 14 - 17
