Chainsaw Sculpture Championship
brings professional chainsaw carvers to Reedsport for 17 hours of
carving large cedar sculptures with daily timed "quick-carve"

DuneFest,
has quickly become one of the premiere dune events in the nation.
This 5-day event draws thousands of ATV enthusiasts to Winchester
Bay for bike racing and climbing, ASDA sanctioned drag racing and
more. In addition to all the action on the sand, you'll find ATV

Crab
Bounty Hunt Crabbing is always great fun and the crab is
a tasty reward, but during the month of August in Winchester Bay,
a whopping $5,000 makes crabbing VERY rewarding. Crab are
tagged with metal tags and the tags are placed in a drawing held
during the Crab Bounty Celebration held Labor Day Weekend.
Catch the renegade crab, Captain Umpclaw, and get $5,000!!!
Tsalila - Umpqua
River festival A celebration of the river and its salmon to
encourage the preservation of both this coastal treasures.
Sponsored in part by coastal Indian Tribes, the festival features
native demonstrations and dances, as well as traditional
alder-cooked salmon. Additional events include the Salmon Parade of
local school children and Salmon Forum for adults. An entertaining

Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area This unique area of windswept sand is the result of millions of years of wind, sun, and rain erosion on the Oregon Coast. The Umpqua Dunes Trail is a great place to start your exploration of the dunes. This area is closed to ATVs. However 40% of the Dunes is open to ATV traffic and several sites are in the Reedsport area. Check out

The Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area is home to a large herd of magnificent Roosevelt Elk. The best viewing times are early morning or at dusk. Canadian Geese, osprey, bald eagles, deer, bears, and beaver can also be seen in the area located on Highway 38, east of Reedsport.
Umpqua Discovery Center is a fascinating hands-on center that includes a working weather station, scale model of the Gardiner Saw Mill, interpretive displays of the areas dunes and landscape, and an operational periscope for a fascinating view of the Umpqua River. 271-4816
The
Umpqua River
Lighthouse
was built in 1893. It stands 67 feet high and is one of the few lighthouses that still uses the original lenses. Its beam can be seen 20 miles out to sea and there’s a whale-watching platform to view California gray whales during the annual migrations.
Salmon Harbor at Winchester Bay, just south of Reedsport, is one of the largest sport-boat marinas on the Oregon coast. Charter boating

If you're a fan of oysters, chances are you were eating oysters grown right in Winchester Bay. The Umpqua Aquaculture is the only off shore long-line oyster growing operation in the Pacific Northwest and you can stop by their plant, view oysters being processed, and take home a few for later.

The Loon Lake Recreation Area
sits on the shores of Loon Lake and features a sandy beach for
swimming, 62 camp sites, a nature trail that leads to a cascading
water fall, and a boat launch ramp. Travel east 13 miles on
Highway 38. Turn right at Loon Lake exit follow Mill Creek Road
about seven miles south. Dump station and showers. Open Memorial Day through Fall, $10.00 a night
